Kirkcaldy West Community Council will be entering Beautiful Scotland this year, and aiming to win the ‘Urban Communities’ award.
Beautiful Scotland is an environmental campaign in Scotland for communities who are working to improve and enhance their local area. Judges take note of themes such as seasonal and permanent planting, but the awards are not just for the green-fingered. Sustainability, public participation and issues such as litter and graffiti are all taken into consideration. Entrants are also expected to show evidence of activity throughout the seasons.
Kirkcaldy West Community Council which covers, the central part of Kirkcaldy from the Seafield Estate in the south to the end of the Promenade in the East. The inland boundary meanders around Kirkcaldy up to the top of Sauchenbush and Oriel Roads and takes in the Strathallan estate.
David Henderson, Chair Kirkcaldy West Community Council said “ We want to promote all the environmental projects that are happening in our community and we think the Beautiful Scotland campaign is a good way to achieve this. Over the years the Community Council itself has been involved in installing flower planters in the town centre and helping with projects in Beveridge Park. Fingers crossed we do well this year”
KWCC are working with Fife Council and Kirkcaldy for All to enter Beautiful Scotland.
