Hi,

Anyone got any constructive comments about how to improve the junction outside the Adam Smith Theatre? There have been a lot of complaints, but what would you actually do?

Some options:

1) Tear it all up, put the roundabout back

2) Narrow the pavements again, add filter lanes

3) Change the timing of the lights

4) Wait and see if it improves over time as people get used to it

I have to say that, personally, this is a real frustration. I fail to understand what was wrong with the old layout. The lights are a disaster - journeys have significantly lengthened and it just seems impractical.

Honestly, the best thing the council could do - IMHO - would be to scrap it and revert to the original design. I think the cost of removing the lights would be more than justified by keeping the public satisfied.

Im still surprised they didnt predict the chaos - they probably fell for one of those nice developer-brochure drawings where there are only ever three cars at any junction. Seems to have calmed down a bit. I think they have updated the signals. It may cost money to put right, but you have to consider the economic damage it would have over the next 10-20 years if its not corrected now.

I think the council could have spent the money more wisley by repairing PROPERLY some of the regions pot holes.

Think how that would improve all our roads, oops sorry Fife council dont do logic silly me.

Having been knocked off my bike by a careless driver at the old junction I'm glad its changing. The previous roundabout obscured drivers view. Also, anything that slows the buses down there makes sense.
